Pragya Tiwari has over 15 years of experience as a journalist. She has led publications such as Vice India, Tehelka, and The Big Indian Picture as an editor and written prolifically on politics, policy, fashion, arts, culture, books, theatre, and cinema for national publications such as Times of India, HT, DNA, Mint Lounge, Telegraph, Wire, Elle, Quartz, Quint, FirstPost and international publications such as The New York Times and Al Jazeera.

She has also worked as a consultant on development and culture-related policy with international organisations as well as governments. She founded an independent media company called Oijo that produced digital media content including video and podcasts and launched and ran the music platform Balcony TV. She is the program director of Bridge Talks, an initiative on gender dialogues promoted by Caravan and Delhi Press.

Pragya also is a prolific public speaker on politics, policy, and culture at various conferences and literature festivals in India and abroad, including the Jaipur Literature Festival and the Times of India Literary Carnival and has given talks at universities such as the King’s College London and Oxford University. She also appears on Television news as a guest commentator
on culture and politics.

Pragya holds a degree in LLB and Human Rights from Cardiff University, and a Masters in Public Administration from the London School of Economics, and has lived in Calcutta, Mumbai, Delhi and London.
