The Sheikh Zayed Book Award goes global
From 2021, our London office will be directing an international programme of regional communications campaigns for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, one of the world’s leading Arab literary prizes.
Flint Culture will be working with associates in the US, France, Germany and Russia to promote the 15th edition of the award, in keeping with its mission to advance the global understanding of Arabic literature and culture.
The award has recently added five new languages to its website, including German, Italian, French, Spanish and Russian, in addition to Arabic and English. We assisted with the delivery of the translation project, drawing on our network of high-quality language partners around the world.
The enhancement to the website will raise the status of the award internationally and facilitate effective communication with both authors and publishers from additional countries, as well as attract more submissions within categories that are specific to non-Arabic works.
This year’s edition was the largest in its history in terms of the number of submissions, with significant growth in the ‘Translation’ and ‘Arabic Culture in Other Languages’ categories, reflecting the growing international importance of the award.
Additionally, the award is opening up its Translation Grant programme to all of the shortlisted titles selected for the 15th edition, creating more opportunities for Arabic literature to be published around the world.
We are delighted to continue our support for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award this year, and look forward with anticipation to the shortlists for the 15th edition, which will be announced in February 2021.
