Peter Harrington Rare Books release new catalogues showcasing highlights from the Chelsea Bindery and a Christmas miscellany
Flint Culture has started working with London book dealer Peter Harrington – one of the leading rare book dealers in the world and the largest antiquarian book dealer in Europe – on two of their latest catalogues, a selection from the Chelsea Bindery and a curated Christmas selection.
One of only a handful of binderies in London to still practise the centuries-old tradition of fine leather bookbinding, the Chelsea Bindery celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with a special anniversary catalogue of 170 stunningly-bound modern first editions. Showcasing the artisanal techniques of leather bookbinding, highlights include a unique binding of a first edition of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – the scarcest book from the Harry Potter series and a first-edition of Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s with diamond cover details.
The Christmas miscellany catalogue features a seasonal offering of the latest acquisitions to the rare book dealer’s shelves, with rare and inscribed first editions by Charles Dickens, William Morris and Agatha Christie. The selection of over 250 items covers a wide range of subjects including economics, politics, philosophy, art & design, literature, poetry, children’s classics, works by women, travel, fine bindings and private press.
