Inclusive and imaginative Manchester Museum reopening to public 18 Feb 2023, kicking off big cultural year for the City
Manchester Museum will kick start an important year of cultural innovation for Manchester when it reopens to the public 18 Feb 2023. Following the completion of an ambitious £15 million transformation, the museum aims to tell the story of Manchester, from the past to today and put its diverse communities front and centre through its historic collections and new displays.
Highlights include The South Asia Gallery, a British Museum partnership and the first permanent gallery in the UK to celebrate the lived experience and contributions of the South Asian diaspora, The Lee Kai Hung Chinese Culture Gallery, which draws on historical and contemporary links between Manchester and China to present a diverse understanding of Chinese culture, and a brand new exhibition hall dedicated to ambitious shows that explore past, present and future, opening with an exhibition dedicated to the Golden Mummies of Egypt.
