House of Music Hungary — New home for European music opens in Budapest
This week the House of Music, Hungary, a new cultural institution intended to celebrate the history of music and its importance to Hungarian culture, opened in Budapest. The House has been launched as part of the Liget Budapest Project, the largest cultural development in Europe.
Sou Fujimoto Architects have used glass panels to create a completely translucent building that blurs boundaries between indoor and outdoor space, alongside a grand undulating roof structure punctured with 100 crater-like holes which allow trees to slip through whilst channelling light into the bottom level of the building.
The House will host a range of experiences in celebration of music-making. This includes a state-of-the-art performance venue, an immersive sound dome, workshop spaces and both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
