Flint Culture ventures to the Arctic Circle for Nordlysfestivalen
In January, Associate Director Alice Clifford travelled to Tromsø in Norway for Nordlysfestivalen. The Northern Lights Festival features performances spanning folk, electronic, jazz, and classical music in venues across the city.
Highlights included Niko Valkeapää, who draws upon and reinvents Sami musical traditions, and acclaimed singer Anqelique Kidjo playing with The Arctic Philharmonic.
Flint Culture supported the festival by inviting international journalists to attend and experience Tromsø’s thriving cultural scene. Attendees included world music magazine Songlines and BBC Radio 3’s programme Music Planet, whose report is available to listen to now on BBC Sounds. Alongside some wonderful concerts, guests were also treated to a glimpse of the elusive aurora borealis!
