Redesign of The Burrell Collection, reopening to the public March 2022
Flint Culture is working with Event to raise their profile as one of the world’s leading experience and exhibition design agencies and help showcase their creative process. On 29th March 2022, six years of close collaboration with Glasgow Life will come to fruition with the reopening of The Burrell Collection, following a sensitive transformation of how its spaces function and how its unique collection of 9,000 objects are interpreted and displayed. Together their ambition was to create the most accessible and beautiful fine and decorative arts museum in the world.
Event has supported the process throughout, from creation of the masterplan for the site and the building, through to the design and delivery of The Burrell Collection’s new exhibition spaces. Event’s redesign has enhanced the relationship of the objects to the iconic modernist building and its natural surroundings. A new display system creates richer and more varied ways of interpreting the collection – from stories of how the objects were made, to their journeys across the world – as well as offering a sustainable way to change visitors’ experience of the museum over time.
