Camões UK celebrates 50 years of teaching Portuguese in UK schools
This October, Camões UK will mark a half century of support for the teaching of Portuguese language in UK schools.
Camões UK, part of the governmental organisation established for the international promotion of Portuguese language and culture, first started teaching school-aged children in Britain in 1973. At this time, lessons were aimed at the Portuguese emigrant community and maintaining connections to the homeland. Today, Portuguese language courses are taught as modern foreign and heritage languages and are integrated into more than 60 schools across the UK and Channel Islands.
Flint Culture London has worked closely with Camões UK throughout the anniversary programme, delivering an integrated promotional service comprising the design of marketing assets, the development and delivery of an anniversary event programme and the direction of a b2b/b2c media relations campaign.
