50 of the world’s rarest books go on sale at Peter Harrington

London-based antiquarian book dealer Peter Harrington this week released their annual catalogue Fifty Fine Items, featuring 50 standout collectibles from the 13th to the 21st century.

Containing exceedingly rare works by Galileo, Samuel Johnson and Charlotte Brontë, many of the items are completely unique, including a miniature Harry Potter manuscript handwritten and illustrated by J. K. Rowling, and a set of autograph letters from J. R. R. Tolkien.

While the brand’s stores in Mayfair and Chelsea are currently closed, the shop has been continuing to sell internationally and build relationships with collectors online.

Pom Harrington, Owner, commented: “The demand for rare books and manuscripts has remained remarkably buoyant in 2020, as collectors refocused their energies on building up their existing collections and pursuing new passions. As we look ahead to the coming year, we are excited to be in a position to present these rare works and expect them to find pride of place on the shelves of some of our most serious collectors.”

The launch of the catalogue was marked by Town & Country and the Robb Report, who gave Pom Harrington the difficult task of choosing his ten favourite items from the highly collectable selection.
