How the Creative Economy in Turkey Can Grow Your Business

Flint Culture and The British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey (BCCT) organised an event in Istanbul on 11 February 2020 at The Stay Hotel Bosphorus. The event aimed to showcase how Turkey’s Cultural Economy can provide valuable opportunities for creative collaboration and promotional partnerships for the participating guests and to their respective businesses.

The event brought together more than 20 arts and business professionals from a range of sectors with an active or potential interest in exploring promotional and business development opportunities within Turkey’s Cultural and Creative Industries. In order to showcase opportunities to harness the dynamism and energy of contemporary Turkish culture, the event also provided a platform to share professional insight with a range of case studies demonstrating cultural sector sponsorship and promotional strategies.

Digby Halsby, co-founder of Flint, gave an overview of the dynamic growth of the Cultural and Creative Industries internationally, with particular reference to the increasing reach and influence of the Turkish market. Referencing wide-ranging experience in promoting Turkish products and services internationally, further cultural sector-led promotional strategies were explored for targeted audience engagement, brand activation initiatives, cultural placemaking and place branding communications campaigns, and brand development sponsorship strategies.

Halsby also commented, “As an international cultural consultancy operating in Istanbul for the last seven years, we have a deep understanding of the promotional potential of Turkey’s creative economy. The UN Development Programme’s Creative Economy Report positions Turkey as one of the world’s leading exporters of creative goods and services, and it was this dynamism of Turkey’s creative industries that first brought our agency to Istanbul. We look forward to further working with the BCCT’s network of brand managers and business leaders, supporting the development of high impact corporate-cultural partnerships, and leveraging the valuable opportunities for strategic communications presented by Turkey’s world class creative talent.”
