Carmignac Foundation

In 2014 Flint was retained on a wide-ranging strategic communications brief by the Carmignac Foundation, a cultural foundation established by the French asset manager Edouard Carmignac. Flint’s operational remit encompassed the promotion of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award, media management around the foundation’s ongoing development of a major new arts venue on the island of Porquerolles, profile-raising activity around the foundation’s contemporary art collection and a reputation management watching brief for the Carmignac Foundation’s international activities.

A dedicated public relations campaign was delivered around the 4th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award, focusing on a public exhibition of the winning photographer’s work which was held at the Saatchi Gallery in London during Frieze Week 2014. A portfolio of media partners was developed for the award, with promotional partnerships negotiated with the British Journal of Photography, the Spectator and Apollo magazine. Press coverage secured for the exhibition ranged from the Sunday Times Magazine, the London Evening Standard and The Art Newspaper to BBC News, Time Out and Photomonitor. Flint also developed a programme of public and private events around the award, with bespoke artist-led exhibition tours created for relevant interest groups (Royal Photographic Society, Photofusion), private members clubs (The Arts Club, The Front Line Club) media partners (Spectator) and educational institutions (Goldsmiths). The exhibition attracted over 120,000 visitors to the Saatchi Gallery during its month-long run.

Flint was also responsible for developing and directing a rolling programme of Press Trips that served as media introductions to the work of the Foundation. Trips were created around the announcement of the 4th laureate at Les Rencontres d’Arles, the Private View of the 5th laureate at La Chapelle des Beaux-Arts, Paris and a viewing of the Carmignac Collection at the Foundation’s head office at Place Vendôme, which were attended by influential journalists from the Financial Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Independent, the Guardian, the British Journal of Photography and the BBC. Flint also developed a rolling programme of introductory meetings for the Foundation’s staff scheduled around key public arts events including Photo London and Art 15.
