Flint Culture London has directed communications for the launch of COINect: Chinese Culture and Creativity, the first exhibition outside China to showcase highlights from the Shanghai Mint Museum.
Organised by Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI), with support from Brunel Design School, the exhibition explores Chinese creativity and history through coin design. More than 100 intricately crafted coins and medals are on view at the historic former Royal Mint site in London, featuring award-winning designs that beautifully capture China’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders.
The exhibition is accompanied by a design competition inviting submissions from young talents in the UK and China, alongside roundtable discussions featuring key UK–China voices in fintech and urban planning. Notable speakers include John Newbigin OBE, Founder and former Chairman of Creative England; Adrian Evans, Director of the Thames Festival; Michael Maneili, Economist and former Lord Mayor of the City of London; Joe Cribb, former Keeper of Coins and Medals at the British Museum; as well as senior finance leaders from China Construction Bank and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank.
Flint Culture communications services comprised the development of a UK/Chinese communications strategy, the creation of bi-lingual press materials, multi-territory media engagement and the coordination of photocalls and media interviews. The COINect project reflects Flint Culture’s growing Chinese clientele, with recent campaigns including the launch of Gallery Weekend Beijing and international representation for the Hong Kong-based artist Wallace Chan.
