Gallery Weekend Beijing 2025 returns with the bold new Beijing Art Season

With over 30 galleries and 10 non-profits, this year's Gallery Weekend Beijing marks a significant moment with an extended geographic scope and an invitation-only, curatorial model.

As China’s cultural capital, Beijing has long held a historically significant position in the development of contemporary Chinese art. Central to this evolution are the 798·751 Art District – which has played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s dynamic cultural ecosystem – and Gallery Weekend Beijing (GWBJ), first launched in 2017.

Anchored in the 798·751 Art District, Gallery Weekend Beijing’s programming continues to expand across the city’s cultural landmarks. This year, with the inaugural Beijing Art Season, the ninth edition of Gallery Weekend Beijing brings together a coalition of Beijing-based organisations, including Beijing Dangdai, ART021 BEIJING, over 30 local galleries, and more than 10 non-profits, to co-create an extended cultural network. This edition also marks the first official collaboration with the Aranya Art Center in Qinhuangdao and features a special duo exhibition titled Between Shadows and Highlights, showcasing the captivating works of Xinyi Cheng and Evelyn Taocheng Wang.

For the 2025 edition, Flint Culture spearheaded a targeted communications strategy, delivering a comprehensive English-language press pack to key international media outlets, accompanied by customised story pitches and sustained outreach to leading publications. To further enhance engagement, we organised an on-site press trip for specialised arts journalists and coordinated interviews with the General Manager of GWBJ, as well as prominent gallerists and artists. With over 50 items of press coverage, including The Art Newspaper, ARTnews, Artnet, Artsy, Frieze, Artribune, Ocula, ArtAsiaPacific, and ArtReview, delivered across 15 different target territories, our campaign significantly amplified international awareness and fostered meaningful conversations around Beijing’s dynamic contemporary art landscape.
