World’s first museum of Sufi Art and Culture debuts in Paris

Flint Culture worked with the Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis in the lead-up to its opening in September 2024, delivering a full-service communications campaign that included media relations, digital consultancy and the creation of marketing collateral. The museum is housed in a 19th-century mansion in Chatou, Paris, that has undergone recent extensive renovation.

The Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis is located on the banks of the Seine in the Parisian suburb of Chatou, facing the historic Île des Impressionnistes. Housed in a 19th-century mansion, the museum underwent a remarkable transformation led by acclaimed French scenographers Atelier Maciej Fiszer and architects Ducatillion Gime. Together, they worked to create an accessible and environmentally sustainable cultural space that preserves original features. The Museum includes 600 square metres of exhibition space across three floors, complemented by a serene garden and an archival research library.

Our communications strategy was designed to build local, regional and international awareness and enhance understanding of Sufi art and culture through MACS MTO’s inaugural exhibition. It aimed to engage a range of priority target audiences, driving local, regional and international visitor footfall to the museum and maintaining promotional momentum and visitor engagement post-launch.

We organised bespoke media training sessions for the core MACS MTO spokespeople to ensure the team were well-prepared to address complex questions about the museum’s funding, mission and programme. In close coordination with the museum team, we developed an in-depth internal Q&A to manage cultural sector reputational risk and crisis communications protocol.

Through our combined domestic and international media campaign we secured over 50 pieces of media coverage across more than 15 countries including features in Le Monde, The Guardian, Télérama and The Art Newspaper. A press view on 19 September 2024 was attended by French and international journalists from over 30 outlets.

We also successfully developed a cohesive visual identity for digital channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Additionally, we produced a media bank of ready-to-use photography, video, and animation assets for use across social media, enhancing the museum’s online presence and engagement.
