Flint Culture embeds communications services team in Japan to support national cultural events programme

Throughout 2024 / 2025, a Flint Culture team will be operating out of Japan to deliver strategic consultancy and campaign implementation for three significant cultural events.

We will be directing international media relations for the Tokyo Gendai art fair, Japan’s preeminent commercial art event that gathers leading galleries from Japan, Asia and beyond, to showcase the works of both established and emerging contemporary artists. The fair serves as a platform for cross-cultural discovery as well as commercial, artistic and intellectual exchange. Our team will manage communications across the Asia Pacific, Europe, the UK, and the USA, delivering a global promotional platform for the Tokyo Gendai event.

We will also be providing brand development and audience engagement services for the Japan Cultural Expo, a government initiative that connects global audiences with Japanese arts and culture through exhibitions, performing arts, and festivals. Having previously supported the Japan Cultural Expo during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, our new JCE 2.0 mandate will focus on amplifying reach and driving engagement with Japan’s cultural tourism offer amongst UK audiences.

Additionally, following our recent communications services support for the Oman Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024, we have been retained to develop and deliver a communications strategy and media relations programme for the Oman Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Japan. Our Osaka-based team members will all be native Arabic speakers, ensuring translations, interviews, and content are delivered naturally and authentically, navigating both Japanese and Arabic cultural nuances with confidence.

Our campaigns embrace a culture-first approach, emphasising the importance of dialogue and cross-cultural understanding, essential elements for cultural events with a global impact. Building on two decades of experience delivering projects for clients in Japan, and following the successful management of over 50 national pavilions at Dubai Expo 2020, our presence at Osaka is a testament to the quality of our long-standing relationships with our clients.
