Flint Culture at Biennale Arte 2024

With just weeks to go until the opening of the 60th Venice Art Biennale, Flint Culture is looking forward to immersing ourselves in the non-stop craziness of the world’s most important art event.

Our media relations campaigns will support the launch of the first new space dedicated to contemporary art in a decade, owned by collector Nicolas Berggruen. The magnificently restored Palazzo Diedo will feature site-specific permanent works by 11 artists – Urs Fischer, Piero Golia, Carsten Höller, Ibrahim Mahama, Mariko Mori, Sterling Ruby, Jim Shaw, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Aya Takano, Lee Ufan and Liu Wei – that integrate and respond to the original frescos and features of this 18th-century palazzo, plus there are special projects by New York’s The Kitchen (Rhea Dillon) and the Polaroid Foundation. Watch out for the oversized camera used by the likes of Andy Warhol and Robert Mapplethorpe.

It was Nicolas’ father who gave his name to the Museum Berggruen in Berlin, and while the Museum undergoes its own refurbishment, works by Picasso, Matisse, Klee and Giacometti are presented at the Academia and the new Berggruen Institute, alongside Venetian old masters in the exhibition, Elective Affinities. The Berggruen Institute is in another newly renovated landmark Venice building – Casa dei Tre Occi.

Human rights are the theme of the Vatican Pavilion. Curated by Chiara Parisi and Bruno Racine, works by Maurizio Cattelan, Claire Fontaine, Sonia Gomes and others will be installed in Venice’s women’s prison, accessed only through the guided tours led by the prison’s residents.

We have been working with Chinese artist Wallace Chan for a number of years including three Venice editions. This year we are providing media relations and content creation. His exhibition Transcendence at the Chapel of Santa Maria della Pietà will offer a welcome respite from the crowds. His titanium sculptures, suspended from the ceiling of the Chapel, aim to move us to a state of tranquillity. We always aim to support our clients with calmness and clarity but also happy to have a little help from our artists too!
